New Era Begins: Leadership Change at NLCC Achilles

June 5th, 2026, marked a significant and historic milestone for NLCC Achilles. After nearly nine years of dedicated service, Lt(NL) Lori Oldfield officially stepped down as Commanding Officer, passing the torch—and the sword—to the incredibly capable Lt(NL) Ashley Buchanan.

Honoring a Legacy of Resilience and Growth

To say Lt(NL) Oldfield left a lasting impact on the Corps would be an understatement. Over her nearly decade-long tenure, NLCC Achilles navigated a changing landscape with remarkable success. Under her leadership, the Corps expanded its horizons, participating in multi-corps camps and memorable year-end trips that built lifelong friendships and skills for the cadets.

Perhaps her greatest triumph was leading the Corps through the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. While many organizations struggled, Achilles didn't just survive the trials of those years—it prospered. Upon returning to in-person operations, Lt(NL) Oldfield worked tirelessly to restore normalcy, bringing back the structure, discipline, and community spirit that defines the Corps.

Because of her unwavering dedication, she leaves the Corps larger, stronger, and more vibrant than it has been in years.

As we look to the future, the Corps is in phenomenal hands. Lt(NL) Ashley Buchanan steps into the role of Commanding Officer bringing a wealth of experience, passion, and deep-rooted history with the cadet program:
